Agria Pet Insurance is raising money for rescue centres with an international dog-walking event.
The Agria Dog Walk 2019 is set to unite thousands of dogs across six countries – Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, France and the UK – all in one day. Each walk is hosted by a rescue centre in that area, which receives all the funds raised by that walk.
As well as raising money, the event also aims to highlight the mutual positive impact dogs and owners have on one another such as getting out and walking together.
A recent study on obesity in dogs in the UK found 59% were classified as overweight or obese.
Robin Hargreaves, former British veterinary association president and vet panel lead at Agria, said: “It’s so much more fun to exercise together with your dog – and the fitter you both are the more enjoyment you can both get from being out and about together in the great outdoors. You’ll never have a more enthusiastic exercise partner – make the most of having them there to motivate you!”
Agria has pledged to donate £5 for every dog that takes part in the walk on May 25, and owners can register their dogs for the walk on the Agria website.
