It’s International Dog Day today and a number of companies and organisations are marking the day with an explosion of canine photography.
First up is online card company thortful.com, which launched a competition to find the nation’s cutest dog to be revealed on the big day today, August 26.
The competition attracted more than 2,000 entries but an eventual winner was found in the squeezable form of Cuddly Dudley, a two-year-old pug with ‘a sense of style’.
Dudley was chosen by public vote from a shortlist of ten to become the thortful.com king of canines.
Next comes the Mobiles.co.uk competition to find the best dog photo in a number of categories, taken with a mobile phone.
Categories include pet photobombs, guiltiest pet expression, strangest pet sleeping places, pets defying gravity and ‘my favourite toy’.
The company has also issued some tips on how to take great pet photography, further information can be found on its Facebook page.
Window company Safestyle UK is running a #DoginWindow competition and has issued advanced notice of some of the entries received to celebrate International Dog Day. It is also donating to the Dogs Trust in recognition of the nation’s love of our pets.
The competition is still open until August 31 for anyone who wants to submit entries, with a £500 shopping voucher to the winner.
Even the national parks are getting in on the act, with the South Downs National Parks Authority using International Dog Day to highlight the benefits of a walk …and a photography session…with the dog.
