German aquatics manufacturer JBL recently held a shark workshop, which was warmly received.
Participants at JBL Shark Workshop were able to get up close to the sharks and were ‘surrounded by large numbers of sharks, jostled by them, felt their cautious test bites’ all in the aim of understanding the sea creatures better.
Well-known shark researcher Dr Erich Ritter taught the 22 participants how to behave towards the sharks and how to interpret their body language.
The JBL shark workshop featured up to 20 very curious sharks and the participants learned to use their hands to guide (push) them to one side when they came too close. A spokesman said: “Dr Ritter has even tried this on 6m long great white sharks, and it works! We can recommend Ritter’s SharkSchool courses to anyone interested in this topic.”
