In partnership with entrepreneur and mental health campaigner James Middleton, Netherlands-based cargo bike manufacturer Babboe has donated a Babboe Dog-e bike, designed to transport dogs, to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
A long-time fan of the cargo bikes, James is often spotted with his dogs cycling the streets of London on the Dog-e model. After the theft and recovery of his bike last month, Babboe and London Green Cycles restored the bike ahead of its donation to the animal shelter.
Ali Taylor, head of canine behaviour at Battersea, said: “This bike will make moving around site much easier for some of our less-mobile dogs, or dogs recovering from surgery. Getting animals outside in the fresh air is vital for their overall well-being, even those who may struggle to walk, and the cargo bike will allow us to do this. It’s a lovely donation for our dogs to receive from James and Babboe.”
James added: “I have experienced first-hand how enjoyable the Babboe cargo bike can be and the dogs love it, too, so I was devastated when I discovered that my model was stolen. Thankfully it was recovered and now Babboe and myself can give the dogs at Battersea the opportunity to enjoy it too.”
