For one of the UK’s most popular dog breeds, bulldogs, the increase in demand caused prices to double in November compared with last year – with the price of the rarest French bulldog colour reaching £10,000!
A new, pre-Christmas study from nimblefins.co.uk reveals:
> French bulldog puppies cost 138% more now than they did in 2019
> English bulldogs have gone up 95% in price
> The average cost of a French bulldog puppy is £3,100 and the average cost of an English bulldog puppy is £3,700 in the UK
> Popular colours demand a significant price premium. For example, a merle Frenchie puppy costs 50% more, that’s £4,700
> The most expensive French bulldog puppy on the market right now is an Isabella (the rarest colour), costing £10,000. The priciest English bulldog comes to £8,000
> Prices start at £1,200 and £1,500, respectively, for French and English bulldog puppies.
And the financial burden of owning a bulldog doesn’t end once you’ve bought it. Bulldogs cost up to three times as much as many other popular breeds to insure due to genetic health conditions, so buying a bulldog comes with a considerable long-term financial obligation.
