Renewables specialist RenEnergy has just completed a large-scale solar roof array for pet food business Natures Menu. This installation follows a £16m redevelopment in state-of-the-art new facilities by the East Anglian raw and natural food specialist.
Norfolk-based RenEnergy specialises in designing and supplying solar power systems for businesses and other organisations. Natures Menu’s Norfolk facility is believed to be the largest pet food factory in Europe at over 11,000 sq m.
After expanding operations and increasing its energy demand, Natures Menu contracted RenEnergy to install 1,608 Hanwha Q cells solar panels on the roof of the new factory. The solar installation generates clean, low-carbon electricity, enabling Natures Menu to reduce its energy spend in the face of rising energy prices.
ENERGY
As well as saving Natures Menu money on their energy spend, being able to run the factory on green electricity ties in with the firm’s commitment to producing natural and healthy choices.
Damian Baker, managing director at RenEnergy, said: “Our solar installation for Natures Menu makes use of otherwise passive roof space to generate energy on-site. Like all our projects, we designed a bespoke system to maximise the available space and energy yield. We picked an east-west panel orientation, plus a low ballast option to protect the lightweight roof.
“It’s always a pleasure to do business with another local brand and we think the installation provides the finishing touch to Natures Menu’s new facility.”
Mike Bedford, compliance manager at Natures Menu, said: “As the leading producer of high-quality natural pet foods, we believe that this long-term investment in green energy facilitated by RenEnergy is a major signal of our commitment to modern pet parents, who care for both their pets and the environment they live in.”
