Zoo Med has launched its Paludarium 3-in-1 Lamp. A paludarium is a terrarium and aquarium experience that combines different life forms, and therefore needs a light source to meet the needs of all this life.
A spokesman said: “At first glance, it looks like a regular compact fluorescent UVB bulb with three U-shaped fluorescent tubes. Unlike UVB bulbs which are coated specially to emit UVA and UVB, this lamp has three unique coatings on each of its fluorescent tubes, so it provides different beneficial wavelengths.”
> The Flora Sun coated tube aids plant growth as it emits warm light with peaks in red and blue wavelengths
> The Ultra Sun coated tube balances this warm light with bright and cool light for improved visual rendering of color (especially of greenery)
> The ReptiSun 10.0 bulb provides both UVA (to give reptiles and fish full spectrum vision) and UVB wavelengths (for bone health and Vitamin D3 synthesis).
The spokesman added: “The Paludarium 3-in-1 Lamp is especially good for planted paludariums with amphibians as it doesn’t add any heat, helps amphibian vision (with UVA), and keeps plants happy with proper wavelengths to aid their growth.”
