Cold pressed dog food company Rùn Dog Food has received a business boost from retail entrepreneur Theo Paphitis.
Last week, business owner Lucy Millar tagged Paphitis in an Instagram post about the company during ‘Small Business Sunday’ and was one of six winners to gain a retweet or repost by the entrepreneur to his over half a million Twitter and Instagram followers. Paphitis’ weekly initiative, designed to support small businesses in the UK, has been running since 2010 and now has over 3,500 #SBS winners. They winners are also profiled on the #SBS website.
Millar launched the firm at the start of the pandemic and has seen a big increase in followers and orders as a result of the social media activity.
She said: “To say it’s been difficult to spread the word about our amazing cold pressed dog food products would be a huge understatement, as we’ve never had the budget for a proper ad campaign. We rely heavily on word of mouth from our delighted customers across the UK, so to have this support from Theo has been a total game changer.
“Not only to feel seen by someone of his standing in business, but to have Theo recognise and share his appreciation for all the hard work that it’s taken to get to where we are today, it’s a dream come true.”
Talking to PBW News, she added: “Having launched at the very start of covid, we had to do a massive pivot on our marketing plan, so launched mainly online. However, we do have a select group of dedicated retailers who have adopted – and are absolutely loving – our zero-waste sales model.
“For the first time since launching, we’re finally in a position to do a big push on the retail side of the business. Rùn sells as a packaging-free product in retail, which makes us pretty unique!”
