Pet specialist PR firm Spottydog Communications has been recognised for its efforts to help the pets of Ukraine with an international award.
The agency’s Operation Paw-pose initiative has won the X-Ray Award for the Best Marketing Project in the International Company category. The campaign, which was launched in the run-up to Christmas last year in partnership with charity U-Hearts Foundation, encouraged people to purchase a festive hamper made up of essential items for abandoned pets caught in war-torn Ukraine.
Spottydog helped to recruit TV dog groomer Verity Hardcastle to be the face of the campaign, and also collected more than £12,000 worth of surplus pet products stock from brands exhibiting at last Autumn’s PATS show in Telford to send to Ukraine.
Commenting on the award win, Emily Wardle, associate director at Spottydog Communications, said: “It has been a busy but rewarding year so far for the Spottydog pack and we’re delighted our work in supporting the incredible charity U-Hearts has been recognised by the X-Ray Awards.
“Due to the devasting war in Ukraine, thousands of pets were left without homes and proper care and U-Hearts was founded in 2022 to provide a lifeline to the animals and their families. We are so proud that our communications helped make a positive difference to hundreds of homeless pets.”
Yuriy Tokarski, chief executive of U-Hearts Foundation, added: “Our collaboration with Spottydog Communications has been instrumental in galvanizing support in the UK for our foundation’s programmes, helping pets and animals suffering from the war in Ukraine.”
