Pets at Home has been named as “The best place to work” in the national retail industry.
The pet care retailer came out on top in WorkL’s most recent ‘Happy at Work’ survey, which was conducted in partnership with Retail Week. The survey assesses employees’ happiness over a number of categories including empowerment, pride, satisfaction, reward and recognition, wellbeing, and information sharing, and the company outscored other major UK retailers with high marks across each category.
Pets at Home ceo Lyssa McGowan said: “We are thrilled that Pets at Home has been named the Best Place to Work in the UK Retail Sector. This is testament to our incredible teams and their unwavering dedication to serve a nation of pet lovers.
“Our front-line colleagues are at the heart of our business and their hard work and enthusiasm has not only driven the growth of our business but has also made us a pioneer in providing the best experiences for our consumers. They are the reason we are successful, and this award is a tribute to their tireless efforts. Thank you all for your incredible work!”
Chris Brook-Carter, ceo of industry body Retail Trust, added: “Retail Trust is very much part of how they build their wellbeing and happiness strategies for their people and they’re very engaged. I think [Pets at Home] also understand the clear link between the business thriving and having a happy, healthy workforce.
“It is important that organisations shout about the great work they’re doing and the progress they’re making. We’ve got to collectively reinvigorate the working population around retail and make them see that this is a fantastic industry to work in.”
