Garden retail and pet products exhibition Glee has confirmed a September date for next year, moving from its former June spot in the calendar.
Glee 2024 will take place at the NEC, Birmingham, on September 10-12, following feedback from stakeholders who felt that the later timeslot was more beneficial for retailers and suppliers.
Strategic advisor Boyd Douglas-Davies explained: “The full calendar was reviewed but September consistently embodied the ‘sweet spot’ for retailers and suppliers, with over 55% of Steering Group participants ranking September as the best month to hold Glee.
“One issue that many retailers voiced to us was about a lack of price lists available in June and, with a need for comprehensive data to support orders for the year ahead, the buying cycle was becoming unnecessarily extended.
“The September timing allows for the industry as a whole to be ready, including those that export, with the show perfectly positioned at the natural close of one season, and with a new one on the horizon. This will lead to a more streamlined process, with Glee marking the transition between seasons, with ordering finalisation, planning and preparation coming immediately after the event.”
Sustainable product fair Source Garden will also take place in September 2024, with the second edition of the event taking place alongside the Glee trade exhibition. Launched in 2023 as a standalone event, Source Garden covers outdoor entertaining, garden tools, pets, and supply chain services.
