Retail group Maidenhead Aquatics has created a smartphone app to help customers manage their aquaria and ponds and to get the most out of their hobby.
The Fishkeeper app is free to use and is suitable for both advanced fishkeepers and beginners. It is designed to provide a one-stop solution to record, monitor, and maintain every aspect of an aquatic environments. Users can use the app to add fish, invertebrates and plants from the company’s livestock library, create a schedule of essential tasks with adjustable notifications, record and monitor key water parameters and access best practice articles, hints and tips.
The app has been launched as part of the retailer’s 40-year anniversary celebrations. All users downloading the app between now and June 16, 2024, will be entered into a prize draw to win one of 40 x £400 Maidenhead Aquatics vouchers.
Senior partner Stuart Ashley said: “As an avid long-term aquarist, I strongly believe that this app will assist every fishkeeper in one way or another, regardless of what you keep or level of expertise.
“Unfortunately, too many people leave the hobby due to a bad experience that I feel could have been avoided by using this app. It offers a personalised experience, tailored to each fishkeepers needs, and therefore I’m positive that this new app will add confidence and revolutionise the way hobbyists care for their aquatic pets.”
