Pet Trade Innovations is backing a new app which aims to build local groups of dog owners into community support networks.
Ry Webster got the inspiration for the new MorePaws app after hearing his mother’s concerns about walking her poodle pup alone, and how she struggled to connect with other dog owners in the area. He then created the community-driven app to allow dog owners to connect, arrange group walks, share advice, and help each other with dog sitting as well as highlighting nearby pet trade retailers and services.
He said: “As a first-time dog owner, it can be overwhelming being out in a park on your own with a puppy, plus one in two women are cautious of walking alone.”
Last year, the app was entered into the Pet Industry Federation (PIF) Innovation Award programme and reached the final stages.
Webster continued: “I met Steve Driver, MD at Pet Trade Innovations, last year when MorePaws was nominated as a finalist for innovation of the year at the PIF awards. We got chatting after my presentation and he believed in the vision.
“Steve has been a great help as a mentor, introducing me to people in the industry and as someone to ask for advice. He has years of experience in the industry and running successful businesses.”
Driver added: “When Ry approached me about investing into his business, I was astounded this wasn’t already available! I’m delighted to be part of this App and to be working with Ry, the ability to meet like-minded people in my area and go on group dog walks is an exciting prospect.
“We’re all delighted to have been able to partner with some really established and exciting firms to offer MorePaws members additional discounts and opportunities.”
