An aquatics retailer has been featured in the latest Parliamentary Review, and is thought to be the first aquatics retailer to appear in the publication.
The Review is a series of governmental publications which aim to share best practice and industry developments among policy makers and business leaders.
Based in Oxford, The Goldfish Bowl was chosen to appear among some of the top businesses across the UK for being ‘an outstanding leader in their field, sharing their best practice in their industry’.
The shop has been trading since the Fifties, and was set up by Maxwell Gibbs. Managing partner Barry Allday joined in the Seventies.
Barry later said: “We are so grateful that The Goldfish Bowl has been recognised by The Parliamentary Review for leading the way in the aquatic industry. We have been trading for over 50 years and we are so pleased to be recognised for best practice in our industry.
“We are incredibly thankful for the continuous support of our longstanding customers and are thrilled to see so many new customers coming through our doors, too. I would also like to thank our loyal and dedicated staff for their constant hard work and support. Fishkeeping is a hobby I myself have followed since I was young and I feel very privileged to have made it into a career.”
In the Review, The Goldfish Bowl said: “Looking towards the future, our aim is to continue leading the way in the fishkeeping industry. We are constantly innovating, improving and adding to our systems and equipment to provide the highest level of care to our livestock.
“We actively encourage education in aquatics, both as a hobby and to ensure sustainability of aquatic life across the globe. Fishkeeping is our passion and our hobby, and we will do our part to help this industry to continue to thrive.”
