Specialist imports of aquatic plants attract increased fees from the first of June.
The new Plant Health etc.(Fees) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 extend the current regime of plant health import inspection fees to apply to plant consignments (including aquatic plants) originating from EU Member States, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
The previously deferred changes will apply to England only, but it is expected that Wales and Scotland will also apply such fees in due course.
There is a sliding scale of inspections and fees depending on the ultimate destination of any imports, ie direct to end user or for onwards propagation. Further guidance on the changes is available from Defra or via the OATA website
