Pet care retailers who are considering expanding into the equine sector, or who want to learn more about the latest developments in the category, are being invited to attend the BETA International trade show in September.
The event, which takes place at NAEC Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, on September 10-11 is free to attend for members of the trade. As well as exhibition stands from many of the equine industry’s leading suppliers, the show also has a full programme of seminars, presentations and awards for retailers and suppliers.
The event is owned by the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA), and organisers point out that a growing number of equestrian businesses have diversified into the pet market in recent years, while many pet product companies have added equine products to their list. Visitors to the show can use it to source new suppliers for everyday lines such as hoof picks, grooming brushes and shampoos, fly repellents, first aid items, headcollars and lead ropes and outdoor clothing.
BETA executive director Claire Williams said: “From The National Equestrian Survey 2022/2023, we can see that around 331,000 households over the UK are responsible for the daily upkeep of horses, and that 3.4 million people have ridden in the last 12 months. This provides a great opportunity for pet retailers who could find that stocking key equine and equestrian items could really help their customers.
“We know that most pet retailers are not going to be selling £3,000 saddles or £100 pots of specialist supplements, but the everyday essentials that every horse owner needs could prove profitable for pet stores.”
