Chance to meet overseas buyers

PetQuip and Gardenex are holding the latest in their ‘Meet the Buyers’ events at their offices in Brasted, Kent at the end of this month.

British suppliers can apply to have one-to-one appointments, each 25 minutes long, to discuss opportunities in the pet and leisure markets.

Pet buyers include a Swedish importer/distributor looking to expand into the pet products market and a Dutch pet product buyer from a chain of 15 garden and pet centres, who is searching for innovative new products to broaden the range.

The Swedish importer/distributor supplies 400 garden centres across the country and has a small web-shop. It is now looking to expand its existing garden and fencing ranges by adding pet equipment and accessories.

This will be a new area of business, and it is particularly looking to meet up with suppliers who are not already represented in the Scandinavian market.

FAST GROWING

The Dutch pet product buyer is once again attending the ‘Meet the Buyers’ event to source additional products to expand its range.

Many of its centres are large format (the largest is 32,000m²) with a total sales area of 165,000m. The stores dedicate a great deal more space to pet products than is usual in UK garden centres, and pet sales contribute around half of the overall turnover. This is a fast-growing chain with an extensive online shop.

The pet sections stock a broad range of up to 8,000 items, including food, pet care and accessories for dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, fish and reptiles. There are also some items for hobby farmers.

Gardenex and PetQuip have been holding ‘Meet the Buyers’ events over many years. They have generated new, often long-term export business in new markets for many members and potential members.

This event is on Thursday, November 28 and international buyers will have been provided a link to your website and an outline of your product areas in advance of the visit.
