China International Pet Show has joined the rest of the Chinese pet industry to help fight the spread of coronavirus in the country.
In Wuhan, the centre of the outbreak, a team of 1,000 volunteers is helping pet owners via social media to care for their pets while the province is in ‘lockdown’ and more than 100 companies from the Chinese pet industry have already donated funds and supplies to help support those affected.
CIPS and the China North Veterinary Congress have launched an initiative to provide online vet consultation and CIPS also invited 49 experts to take part in online training classes to help educate pet stores.
Jiang Rongmeng, a member of the National Health Commission expert group, has been quoted as saying that there was no evidence of the spread of the coronavirus between humans and pets and called on all owners to take care of their pets during this period.
