Following a change in legal classification Effipro, an award-winning spot-on flea and tick treatment for cats and dogs, is now classified AVM-GSL, meaning it is now available to be sold over the counter in pet shops and other retail outlets that cater for pets.
Supplied by Virbac, which also produces household flea spray Indorex, the re-classification enables retailers to stock the product, which could previously be dispensed only by a vet, pharmacist or SQP.
Approved for use on cats of 1kg and over and dogs 2kg and over, above eight weeks of age, Effipro treats fleas for up to five weeks in cats and for eight weeks in dogs, and ticks for two weeks on cats and four weeks on dogs. The Drop-Lock pipette allows Effipro to easily be applied in just the right place, with no mess or fuss.
RECLASSIFIED
In addition, Effipro Duo, a spot-on that not only provides protection against fleas and ticks for dogs and cats but also prevents the multiplication of fleas in the home environment, has been re-classified from POM-V to NFA-VPS to allow the product to be sold by Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs).
Effipro Duo is designed to kill fleas and prevent flea infestations for up to seven weeks (up to five weeks in cats). Effipro Duo also benefits from the Drop-Lock pipette for ease of delivery..
Both products are available in five presentations, each containing four pipettes, catering for cats and small-to-extra-large dogs.
“Both Effipro and Effipro Duo offer trusted flea and tick control and exceptional value for money,” said Claire Lewis, product manager at Virbac, “so we are delighted to now be able to offer retailers the opportunity to stock these products in time for peak flea season.”
