A new environmentally-friendly brand has joined the cat litter market.
Huskaloo, which launched in the UK this summer, is made from compressed, dehydrated coconut husk – often a discarded by-product of chocolate bars and ice-cream.
Each brick of Huskaloo produces a tray of soft, dry litter and the seven bricks in each box should last at least 28 days – that’s nearly a month’s supply the size and weight of a cereal box and costing the cat owner about 67p per day.
“Coconut cat litter is an answer to the perennial problem for cat owners of heavy, bulky, dusty cat litter,” a spokesman said. “Clay cat litters are also a long-standing green issue, with 2.5 million tons of it clogging up UK landfill sites every year…It’s an ecological mess.
“Coconut husk is naturally hypoallergenic, naturally resistant to bacteria and up to 10 times more absorbent that clay cat litters. And when you’re finished with it, Huskaloo is 100% biodegradable and the packaging is 100% recyclable…
“That’s 90% smaller, 90% lighter and a whole lot greener. The answer to clay cat litter is nuts!”
