Petto Smart Nutrition has launched a new range of meat-free dog treats made using plant and insect protein.
Petto Smart Nutrition is a new UK-based company that says it is on a mission to create healthier diets for dogs while making the planet a better place to live, and the dog treats are its first product. The range includes plant-based lines Jump and Run (with carrots, coconut oil and turmeric) for joint care, and Kiss Me Again (with peppermint, sweet potato and blueberry) to tackle bad breath; and two products derived from insect and plant protein – Take It Easy (with crickets, camomile and pumpkin) to calm and relax and Let’s Do It (with crickets, cashews and cranberries) for an energy boost. RRP is £3.95 for a 100g bag.
The treats are slow-baked and are hypoallergenic, and are supplied in recyclable packaging.
Co-founder Eduardo Salazar said: “It is our passion to make a difference in dog’s diets while helping to preserve the planet, so the launch of our Petto Smart Nutrition dog treats range is just the start of this journey, with more products due to be launched in the near future.
“We know people will treat their dogs and we felt there had to be a way of making treats that are a healthier alternative. My dog Maya, a 12-year-old Labrador retriever, is our chief product tester and she loves our Petto treats, and we know that all dogs benefit from a high-protein diet, and it’s reassuring to know that our dog treats are particularly protein-rich.”
