British dog treat brand Pooch Snax is rolling its Porky Ears range of natural dog treats to independent pet stores across the UK following the success of the brand in selected outlets and through its direct-to-consumer business.
Porky Ears are a premium British pork treat range made from 100% British pork which is shaped into ears and air-dried. The manufacturer describes the product as a safer, healthier and more nutritious alternative to pigs’ ears as the latter often contain ligaments, cartilage and artificial smoke flavouring.
According to Pooch Snax, pork snacks were the easiest treat for dogs to digest in comparison to traditional pigs’ ears and rawhide chews. Limited exposure to pork in the diet, but introducing as a treat, makes dogs less likely to become allergic to it. The company’s research suggests that when dogs are fed one pork treat per day along with their normal diet, their overall digestibility will increase.
Porky Ears are available in small, medium and XL sizes, supplied loose to retailers in 100% recyclable greaseproof lined cardboard boxes of 50 ears (30 for the XL size), each containing a customer advice card and branded with the Pooch Snax logo.
Pre-packed retail boxes of 15 (small), 12 (medium) or 10 (XL) ears are also available, in outer cases of six. Free POS units (counter display or FSDU holding two sizes) are available to retailers.
