Royal Canin’s Breed Health Nutrition range sees the addition of five new products this month (June).
The range was first established in 2002 and now provides tailor-made nutrition for 23 of the UK’s most popular dog breeds, making it the country’s widest breed specific option.
The five new products include wet foods for the shih tzu and Labrador, and nutritional support for older dogs for the Labrador, German shepherd and Yorkshire terrier.
Royal Canin retail marketing manager, Ben Hurley, said: “We are constantly refining our products to ensure that we meet dogs’ nutritional needs ever more precisely. The optimum formula for a breed’s needs and life stage also takes into account palatability and even sometimes owners’ feeding preferences. For example, we know that a high percentage of owners like to feed wet food or have the option to combine it with dry food.
“Our two new wet options, for adult shih tzus and Labradors, offer these owners a new way to ensure optimum nutrition while sticking with a premium quality food choice.
“For the specialist pet retail sector, this is another way of enhancing your expertise and ensuring your customers can keep their dogs happy and healthy for as long as possible.”
The new products are:
Royal Canin Shih Tzu Adult in Loaf: Like many small breed dogs, the shih tzu can be a fussy eater whose appetite may need to be stimulated. The new Loaf product has a smooth, easy-to-eat texture with an appealing sauce and aroma for maximum palatability. It can be fed combined with Shih Tzu Adult Dry and helps maintain skin health and nourishes the breed’s long, dense coat. Adapted levels of taurine, EPA and DHA contribute to maintaining healthy cardiac function. The 85g pouches are available in a box of 12.
Royal Canin Labrador Retriever Adult: Although the Labrador is usually a good eater, some dogs may need to have their appetite enhanced from time to time. The ‘Chunks in Gravy’ format is appealing to the dog’s sense of smell, and the adapted calorie content helps maintain ideal weight. Healthy bones and joints are supported with EPA and DHA, and an exclusive blend of nutrients helps support a healthy skin and coat. Available in 140g pouches in a box of 10, Labrador Retriever Adult Wet is idea for combined feeding with Labrador Retriever Adult Dry.
Royal Canin Labrador Retriever Adult 5+: At five years old, the Labrador retriever is approaching middle age, bringing with it some changes. The kibble size and texture are specially designed for the mature Labrador and are easy to soften with warm water if the dog needs encouragement to eat. An exclusive combination of antioxidants helps maintain cellular health as the ageing process begins, and phosphorus content is adapted for healthy kidney function. Activity levels may decrease with age, and perhaps less mobility, so fat and calorie content are adapted to reflect this, along with adapted levels of protein and L-carnitine to help maintain muscle mass. Collagen, EPA and DHA are included to help support healthy cartilage, bones and joints during the onset of ageing. Available in 12kg bags.
Royal Canin German Shepherd Adult 5+: The cross-shaped kibble is designed for the jaws of the mature German shepherd and can be softened with warm water if required for easier eating. Antioxidants support cellular health, and phosphorus content is adapted for a healthy kidney function, along with collagen, EPA and DHA for cartilage, bones and joint support. The German Shepherd is well known for having a sensitive digestive system throughout life, so the use of ultra-digestible proteins, selected fibres and prebiotics help maintain a healthy digestion and encourage optimal stool quality. Available in 12kg bags.
Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier Adult 8+: At eight years old, the Yorkshire Terrier is just approaching middle age. The mini kibble is adapted to the mature Yorkie’s small jaw in terms of size, shape and texture, and also contains calcium chelators to support oral health. Softening the kibbles with warm water will bring out the aroma even more and may encourage this often-fussy breed to eat. Antioxidants for cellular health and an appropriate phosphorus content for healthy kidneys are incorporated. One of the Yorkie’s crowning glories is the long, soft and flowing coat, which grows continuously. Precise levels of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, borage oil and biotin help keep the coat at its best, while ultra-digestible proteins, prebiotics and fibres help maintain a balanced digestion and optimal stool quality. Available in 1.5kg bags.
