Global pet healthcare and pharmaceutical manufacturer Beaphar has added a milk replacer specifically tailored to the needs of newborn and orphaned small animals to its product range.
“We have a very long history with formulating high-quality milk replacers for puppies and kittens under our Beaphar Lactol brand,” said Dr Sue Huggett, business manager, Beaphar UK, “and we are very excited to have now developed a product which is ideally suited to the needs of other small animals.”
Beaphar Small Animal Milk has been formulated with a lactose level of just 1.1%, which is significantly lower than other milk replacers on the market, Sue says.
LOW LACTOSE
‘This low lactose level is incredibly important because many small animals are lactose intolerant. Alongside this, Beaphar Small Animal Milk is made using whey protein isolate and so contains high-quality, easily digestible proteins. It also has a very high fat content, so it resembles their mother’s milk as closely as possible to support optimum growth and development.”
As well as being suitable for hand-rearing abandoned or orphaned small animals, the product can also be used during weaning and as a conditioning food for pregnant, nursing, sick or convalescing small animals.
Beaphar Small Animal Milk is suitable for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, mice, rats, gerbils, hamsters, degus and hedgehogs.
It come in a 200g pack with an RRP of £13.99.
