Fresh dog food firm Butternut Box has acquired Poland’s leading fresh dog food company PsiBufet.
Butternut Box already claims to be Europe’s largest fresh dog food brand, with customers in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and Belgium. Since its creation in 2016, the company has grown rapidly, raising over £100m in capital to date from a number of corporate and venture capital lenders. It also recently became certified as a B Corporation, in part driven by its own fully-integrated manufacturing and fulfilment facility in March 2021.
PsiBufet, founded in 2012, provides individually tailored fresh food for dogs in Poland. With this acquisition, PsiBufet will be able to offer customers a wider range of products and a more advanced online customer experience. Butternut Box, which has been working closely with PsiBufet for three years, will use the Polish business as a hub from which to expand its activities to Central and Eastern Europe.
Co-founder Kevin Glynn said: “We are thrilled to welcome PsiBufet to the Butternut Box team. PsiBufet shares our commitment to providing dogs with fresh, wholesome, nutritious meals, and we are excited to bring their expertise and product offerings into our portfolio.
“This acquisition allows us to scale our operations in Europe and bring the Butternut Box experience to even more dog owners and their beloved dogs.”
Piotr Wawrysiuk, founder and ceo of PsiBufet, added: “Butternut Box has been supporting us for over three years. It is not only a capital investor but above all a strategic one, sharing their knowledge and experience.
“Our companies share a common organisational culture and, above all, a mission: to provide health and happiness to dogs and their humans all over the world. I am pleased that, thanks to the relationship, we will be able to offer customers in Poland the highest quality products.”
