Belgian-based pet care firm Versele-Laga has acquired Spanish bird nutrition supplier Psittacus Catalonia.
The two family-owned companies boast a combined total of 120 years in bird nutrition. Psittacus will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary, with Teresa Masuet remaining as general manager and Xavier Viader join the Versele-Laga Bird Nutrition Expert Group. The subsidiary will continue to focus on bird nutrition while gaining access to Versele-Laga’s global infrastructure and market expertise.
Versele-Laga is a manufacturer of food care products for pets and performance animals with 11 factories on three continents and brands on sale in over 85 countries. For 22 years, Versele-Laga has been the main sponsor of Loro Parque Fundación in Tenerife, playing a crucial role in saving 12 critically endangered parrot species from extinction, and also supports over 270 international conservation projects to safeguard the survival of birds and ecosystems worldwide.
Psittacus actively contributes to environmental protection, animal welfare, education, and scientific research through the Psittacus Foundation.
