Akela Pet Foods has acquired the Nutriwolds raw pet food brand and created a new company, Nutriwolds Raw Ltd.
The Nutriwolds brand was formed in 2019 by Lizz Adair, creating raw pet food that was suitable to feed to both cats and dogs using ingredients such as British free-range pork, grass-fed lamb, herb-fed chicken and organic vegetables.
However, with the price of ingredients and energy increasing by over 300%, it became unviable for Nutriwolds to continue in its current state, the company reports.
Akela Pet Foods produces premium wet, dry and raw foods that are designed to mimic cats’ and dogs’ ancestral diets. Founder James Wigby saw similarities in the values and passion of the two brands and moved to combine the two businesses.
Wigby and Adair are both directors of the new company, Nutriwolds Raw Ltd, and plan to relaunch the range of Nutriwolds products on November 1.
