Staff at the Assisi Pet Care group are embarking on a virtual tour of Europe with the aim of raising £2,000 for the Blue Cross pet charity.
Employees at the company, which is home to brands including Burns Pet Nutrition and Hi Life, are aiming to spend the next month virtually cycling, walking, and running a total 1,200 miles – the same distance from Assisi headquarters, in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, to the town of Assisi in central Italy. During the month, employees will be logging their miles and steps via an app.
Funds raised by the “Tour D’Assisi” – named after Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals – will be donated to Blue Cross to help ensure they can continue to offer veterinary treatment, finding loving new homes for pets, behavioural advice, support with pet bereavement and education for future generations.
Assisi Pet Care chief executive Peter Mangion said: “We are thrilled to be taking part once again in the Tour D’Assisi. We’re encouraging all brands and all departments to take part. Whether they are avid cyclists, walkers or runners, there’s a way for everyone to get involved and make a difference.
“Our aim is helping the Blue Cross’ goal of a world where all pets enjoy a happy, healthy life, and where more people can experience the joy of pets”.
