A number of pet food brands are giving NHS and emergency service workers discounts on online purchasers via the Blue Light Card scheme.
To mark National Pet Day today (April 11), Butternut Box is offering cardholders 50% off the first box, plus 25% off the second box; James Wellbeloved is offering new customers 20% off; Pooch & Mutt is offering savings of up to 40%; Purina is offering 30% on online orders of Felix; and Tails.com is offering 80% off the first box.
Blue Light Card is a discount programme for a range of public service professions including emergency services, NHS and social care workers, prison service and armed forces personnel. Over three million members have access to exclusive discounts via the card, which costs £4.99 and is valid for two years.
Tom Dalby, chief executive of Blue Light Card, said: “Whether it’s belly rubs and cuddles, or walks in the fresh air, owning a pet can be hugely beneficial to our mental and physical well being. We know that after an incredibly busy day of keeping us all safe and well, many of our emergency workers enjoy coming home to their furry companions.
“However, during these difficult times, we recognise that owning a pet can be overwhelmingly expensive, especially as most households are looking to cut costs and save the pennies any way they can. With this in mind, we’re delighted to share a whole range of exclusive deals and special discounts – helping our emergency service workers, NHS staff, social care workers, armed forces and foster carers access the best for their pets.”
