Manufacturer Burgess Pet Care is to be the headline sponsor of this year’s National Rabbit Festival.
The festival, described as UK’s first and only ethical rescue-based event to educate, advocate and celebrate rabbits as a species and companion animal, will take place on October 19 at the University of Nottingham’s East Midlands Conference Centre.
The event will feature expert speakers plus retailers, rabbit rescues and other charities as well as a range of activities for visitors. More than 2,000 rabbit enthusiasts are expected to attend.
Peter Lancaster, head of marketing at Burgess Pet Care, said: “Small animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Burgess Excel, our range of small animal food specifically produced to prevent selective feeding and help to keep rabbits happy and healthy. We are also the proud organisers of Rabbit Awareness Week, now in its 18th year and the UK’s largest annual rabbit welfare campaign of its kind.
“Supporting the National Rabbit Festival is a fantastic way for Burgess to show our commitment to rabbits’ welfare and reach a large audience of passionate customers keen to do the best by their rabbits. It’s also a great opportunity to discuss the many benefits of feeding rabbits the correct diet for their health and well-being.”
Beth Hinds of Ivy Dene Rabbit Rescue, founder and organiser of the Festival, added: “I am honoured and excited to have Burgess join us in supporting The National Rabbit Festival as a headline sponsor, leading rabbit guardians towards optimum rabbit diet and health.”
