Schesir is Genoa-based Agras Pet Foods’ flagship brand
Agras Pet Foods has acquired Cerere Spa, a specialist in the production and packaging of dry food for pets.
The acquisition represents a strategic move for Agras Pet Foods in support of its ambition to become a key player in the dry segment with its flagship brand Schesir.
The 2019 turnover of Piedmont-based Cerere was about €10 million. Agras is expected to have a turnover in 2020 close to €100 million.
Agras aims to make additional investments over the coming years with the aim of doubling volumes of dry pet food under its own and third-party brands.
CEO Pietro Molteni said: “This operation represents a key milestone in our journey to accelerate growth in the dry segment, with a best-in-class production process and increasing investments in the equity of our flagship brand Schesir.
“We’re also committed to continue working with the partners that chose Cerere for the production of
their own retail brands.”
Agras Pets Foods was founded in Genoa in 1986 and is now owned by the private equity fund NXMH, a leader in Italy in the segment of natural foods for dogs and cats.
