Kennelpak has entered into an exclusive UK and Ireland distribution agreement with a company that makes products from recycled plastic and used textiles, and will launch the range of eco-friendly pet products at PATS Telford.
Project Blu is a new, socially-responsible brand that aims to transform plastic recovered from oceans into eco-textile designs. The company behind Project Blu has more than 30 years’ experience in the upholstery market, and also owns pet brand Ralph & Co.
Made in Italy, Project Blu has a range of pet products including beds, collars, leads and toys, and launched at Zoomark earlier this year. Available in a variety of sizes and colours, the range will be expanded every quarter.
Geryn Evans, Project Blu founder and CEO, will be discussing the inspiration behind the movement on both days at PATS, at 12pm.
SHARED AMBITION
Daniel Constance, Kennelpak commercial director, said: “We are really excited to bring to market such a fabulous brand with superb ecological and environmental credentials.
“We share in the ambition of Project Blu to offer a revolutionary range of products to our customers and end consumers. We are very selective when we identify potential distribution opportunities, and Project Blu is clearly a wonderful concept and an exceptionally well-made range of products.”
An estimated eight million metric tonnes of plastic enters oceans every year. Not only does this pollute our environment and kill wildlife, the micro-plastics and carcinogenic toxins are entering the human food chain.
Project Blu says its mission is ‘to revolutionise the global pet market by offering consumers a sustainable, affordable and eco-friendly choice of products that help clean our planet’.
In addition, it makes a donation from every sale to the Plastic Bank, a scheme that builds and activates recycling infrastructure in the world’s poorest regions. Recyclers can exchange the plastic for a range of services including food, education and healthcare, which help reduce poverty.
Geryn said: “There is no simple fix for the complex threats that harm our natural environment. Plastic is a design failure and without action and awareness we will create irreparable damage that will affect future generations.
“Project Blu was born from a desire to do something different. We set out to break the mould of the traditional manufacturing process to offer products that are sustainable, affordable and built to last.
“Project Blu has an intense focus on every stage of our supply chain to ensure we offer the greatest benefit to our natural environment. Our business is plastic neutral, which means you will not find a single trace of non-recyclable or virgin plastic in our supply chain. We manufacture our products within Europe to ensure traceability and reduce our carbon footprint.”
