Laughing Dog has raised more than £6,000 for its charity partner, Guide Dogs.
With an original target of £5,000, the Lincolnshire-based dog food manufacturer is delighted to have been able to pay for a full year’s training for its sponsored Guide Dog puppy, Ted – named after Fold Hill’s founding father, Ted Grant.
The Laughing Dog team has enthusiastically dived into many challenges to fundraise and spread awareness for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. From sponsored walks and the National and Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, to getting the local community involved in knitting squares to make handmade blankets for virtual blanket auctions, Laughing Dog ensured there was an activity to suit everyone.
The first £5,000 raised goes towards supporting Ted until he goes to advanced training. Anything extra will go towards where services need it most locally to support adults and children with sight loss to lead an independent life.
Rowina Caesar, at Laughing Dog, said: “Getting the local community involved in fundraising for Ted was fantastic.
“It allowed us to offer a new lockdown activity to our customers, helping many of them tackle their new-found free time, while raising money to aid Ted’s first year of training. 2020’s fundraising was understandably challenging, but our knitting project was embraced with so much enthusiasm.
Jane Shelley, community fundraising relationship manager at the Guide Dogs charity, UK said: “A huge thank you to everyone at Laughing Dog Food for their incredible fundraising for Guide Dogs over the last two years. 2020 wasn’t the year that any of us had planned, but Laughing Dog Food got super creative and still managed to fundraise for us during exceptional circumstances…They are a wonderful team and their camaraderie, adaptability and hard work fundraising will truly make a big difference.”
