A raw pet food company has recalled some of its products containing beef after a preliminary laboratory test discovered suspected salmonella contamination.
Raw Treat Pet Food, of Aberystwyth, has emailed its pet shop customers informing them of the recall.
The batches recalled are: Beef (batch number 2690), Beef & Chicken (2690/2677), Beef & Tripe (2690/2601), and Beef & Turkey (2690/2672).
In its email to pet shops, Raw Treat Pet Food said: “I am contacting you to draw your attention to one of our products which we would like to recall as a precautionary measure.
“As you may be aware, prior to production we test every batch we use for salmonella, only once we receive a negative test result is the batch released to for production.
“During their regular monthly visits, APHA (Animal and Plant Health Agency) decided last month to test an older batch for which we have a negative laboratory report, and have informed us today that the preliminary results in one batches of beef have suspected salmonella contamination.
“Therefore, we are recalling the following products supplied in late July and August 2021, the recall will also include the mixes that the beef were used in. The chicken, tripe and turkey are all clear but have been mixed with the suspect batch of beef.”
