Scrumbles has been named as one of the best B Corporations in the world for governance.
The ethical gut health pet food brand was selected from more than 3,000 certified B Corporations by an independent assessment, honouring the top 10 per cent of all certified B Corps.
B Corporatations are a body of businesses whose purpose is to use business as ‘a force for good’. Certification involves a rigorous assessment evaluating the social and environmental impact of a business.
Scrumbles – launched only last year – is one of only a handful of pet food brands globally to certify as a B Corp. Co-founder Aneisha Walker said: “We’re delighted to have been recognised for our governance.
CORE VALUE
“Transparency with our shoppers and retail partners has been a core value from the beginning. We’re committed to providing the best nutrition while being conscious of our impact on the environment and the communities we serve, and we’re continually learning and evaluating how to do more”.
On the future, co-owner Jack Walker said: “We’ve recently concluded a life cycle assessment of pet food, which has given us an incredible insight into where the true impact lies in our supply chain.
“Packaging is front of mind for everyone but we were surprised by how large the impact of logistics was, which has reaffirmed our decision to manufacture all of our products here in the UK. We’re now working to use the learnings to further reduce the impact of our existing products and guide our future innovation.”.
Scrumbles is sold in specialist pet shops across the country as well as by online retailers.
