Snowflake equine bedding has increased its manufacturing capacity by 50%, with the installation of a new baler at its Manchester-based headquarters.
Plevin Products, the manufacturer of the Snowflake brand, has invested £350,000 in a new baling facility, which will mean the company can now make its Snowflake bedding range from its Mossley site in Ashton-Under-Lyne.
The Snowflake range includes Snowflake Supreme – a premium soft wood shaving; Snowflake Standard – a softwood shavings and soft wood chip blend; Snowflake Soft Chip – dust-extracted soft wood chips; and Snowflake Soft Chip Plus – a soft wood chip and premium shavings blend. All the beddings are de-dusted.
Jamie Plevin, managing director of Plevin Products, said the company’s vision was to establish Snowflake as the No.1 bedding choice for all horse owners and livery across the UK.
“We’ve already got a product to suit all riders and owners, whatever their preference and budget,” he said. “By increasing our capacity and installing a new baler in Manchester, we are now able to serve even more stockists with our range, especially in the North West.”
Snowflake has been manufacturing equine bedding for more than 50 years. As well as its range of shavings and wood chip, it also manufactures absorbent Soft Wood Pellets for horses.
“Our investment not only means increased product availability for our stockists, but cheaper prices due to cost savings from local transport,” Jamie added.
Snowflake is looking to take on additional stockists and end users and will be able to produce on either 1200 x 1500 pallets or 1200 x 1000 pallets.
