Belgian animal nutrition and care product manufacturer Versele-Laga has extended its 20-year partnership with Tenerife animal park Loro Parque for another four years.
The Loro Parque FundaciĆ³n funds around 200 projects that protect some of the most threatened ecosystems worldwide and has been instrumental in saving 12 parrot species from extinction. The animal park linked with the foundation the park recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and has welcomed more than 52 million visitors to view its collection of endangered bird species since its inception.
The foundation has its own breeding centre, where it maintains a reserve population of highly endangered species, as a last resort for parrots that are threatened with extinction ready for a controlled reintroduction into the wild.
As well as supporting the foundation financially, Versele-Laga has worked with specialists at Loro Parque to developed six seed mixtures for parrots and parakeets under the Prestige brand. For every pack of Prestige Loro Parque sold, a portion goes to the Loro Parque FundaciĆ³n.
