The RSPCA has listed its funniest rescues of 2019.
The top spot went to a grey seal that was rescued from the top of a 10ft high Second World War pillbox in the East Riding of Yorkshire. A member of the public reported that the seal had been stuck for more than 24 hours.
RSPCA animal collection officer Leanne Honess-Heather said: “We managed to manoeuvre him into a net and, supporting his weight between us, carefully lowered him.”
Also listed was a roe deer that got its hind stuck in metal railings, a slow worm that poked its head out of a car air vent, and a squirrel whose back legs were caught between the metal bars of a bird feeder.
