Two hero dogs from both sides of the Atlantic have met at a charity pet hospital.
US secret service dog Hurricane and his handler, officer Marshall Mirarchi, met Britain’s Got Talent star, police dog Finn, at Bow PDSA Pet Hospital in London.
Both dogs are recipients of PDSA medals.
Hurricane was awarded the PDSA Order of Merit – the animal equivalent of the OBE – for devotion to duty after protecting then-President Barack Obama and his family from an intruder who tried to gain access to the White House in 2014.
Finn received the PDSA Gold Medal – known as the animals’ George Cross – after he was stabbed and seriously injured while protecting his handler, PC David Wardell, from an attacker in 2016.
The incident led to the creation of ‘Finn’s Law’, legislation that makes it harder for those who harm service animals to claim they were acting in self-defence.
