Pet protection and microchipping service Identi has signed a new partnership with Cats Protection.
The five-year deal will provide the charity with Identichip microchips and also see the two organisations join forces in a media partnership to raise awareness of microchipping cats, which becomes compulsory for owned cats in England on June 10 this year.
Amy Spratt, product and marketing manager at Identi, said: “As the deadline for mandatory cat microchipping in England draws near, approximately three million cats in the UK are still unchipped (Cats Protection 2023 CATS report). The new collaboration between identi and Cats Protection has come at a pivotal moment and will help ensure our commitment to creating a safer, happier environment for cats nationwide.”
Madison Rodgers, head of advocacy, campaigns & government relations at Cats Protection, added: “Microchips are a safe and permanent method of identification which provide a simple and effective way of reuniting cats with their owners should they be lost, injured or stolen.
“Cats Protection campaigned for the compulsory microchipping of pet cats to be introduced in England and we are delighted to be partnering with Identi to raise awareness of this new important legislative change for cat owners.
“t is important that owners keep their details registered on a microchip up to date so they can be contacted as swiftly as possible, and we are really looking forward to building a positive, meaningful relationship with identi, supporting cat owners throughout the country.”
