Boarding kennels struggling with the financial impact of covid-19 are being urged to consider branching out into pet cremation.
Staffordshire-based Addfield Environmental Systems has worked with hundreds of pet crematoriums worldwide and says that the majority are run by genuine animal lovers.
The company believes that boarding kennels, hit by lockdown restrictions on travel and tourism, have the potential to become pet crematoriums, especially those located on farmland.
Modern pet crematoriums are ‘discreet units’ than can be easily installed on agricultural land, within a barn conversion or even a specially adapted container, which can then be further clad to blend into its surroundings. The process is smoke and odour free and can be operated with minimal contact.
“When working with kennels, which have chosen to branch out into pet cremation, we have found they have known the pets for most of their lives,” said James Grant, business development director of Addfield Environmental Systems.
“When the sad time comes owners have been hugely grateful for a friendly face and the comfort in knowing their family pet will be looked after one last time to a very high standard.
“Already having an established customer base, kennels have found they are able to achieve a return on their initial investment in as little as 12 months.”
