One in 10 owners do not have a regular grooming routine in place for their pets, according to research by Furminator.
Stuart Simons, expert groomer at Furminator, has given tips on several popular breeds to support retailers in educating owners on their pets’ grooming needs. For example:
– Staffies – “The great thing about Staffies is that they are low maintenance when it comes to grooming. A trip to the groomers every 4-6 weeks will keep their coat looking healthy and shiny.”
– Cockapoos – “Their hair grows and grows so it’s really important to stay on top of their grooming with a daily brush and comb… If your Cockapoo gets wet on a walk, use a hairdryer and brush once indoors – this will help keep on top of knots and matting.”
– Labrador retrievers – “Did you know that shedding depends on colour, with chocolate and cream labs tending to shed more than black labs? Home grooming once a week for at least 10-20 minutes can reduce shedding by 99%.”
Stuart also recommended the use of Furminator’s deShedding tool for grooming pets.
