The RSPCA is reminding owners to treat their pets regularly for fleas.
Caroline Allen, chief veterinary officer at the RSPCA, said: “This time of year is particularly rife for flea infestations as the warmer weather means fleas are breeding and hatching at a much quicker rate. It’s therefore crucial that owners treat their pets for fleas but the focus should always be on prevention, which means using flea treatment all year round to protect your furry friends from those itchy critters.
“Flea treatment can easily be done at home and should be carried out regularly for maximum protection.”
