Increasingly, veterinary professionals who normally deal with companion animals are being asked about the health of pet chickens – but, as they are technically a food-producing species, there are strict rules about what medicines can be used to treat them.
The latest module from Veterinary Medicines CPD explains how eggs are made, the factors that influence how drug residues can end up in eggs, the law relating to the treatment of food-producing animals and the significance of withdrawal periods for medicines.
Andrea Tarr, Veterinary Medicines CPD’s founder and director, said: “This module is for vet nurses, SQPs and pharmacists who want to keep their knowledge about veterinary medicines up-to-date, and be able to help pet owners understand how to use medicines safely and effectively.”
