A burglar smashed a door to get into a garden and pet centre café and stole three charity boxes and a mobile phone.
The thief broke into Radway Green Garden & Pet Centre, near Alsager, Cheshire. It is the second time charity boxes have been stolen from the café in the past six months.
Owner Paul Embley, aged 59, from Weston, told Stoke-On-Trent Live: “The burglar destroyed a door at the back of the café and stole three charity boxes. I’m appalled at how low they will stoop to get a small amount of cash.
“It’s had a big impact as we’ve lost all the revenue from the café today.
“This has happened before, about six months ago, and it was exactly the same, only charity boxes were taken… it’s frustrating for our customers who have put their money into these boxes.
“It’s going to cost several hundreds of pounds to fix the door. We’re a small business and anything like this has a big impact due to the loss of revenue and the cost of putting things right.”
The burglar was captured on CCTV and the footage has been handed to the police.
