Thieves smashed down the door of a town centre store and stole a till and more than £100 in cash – just days before the shop closes for good.
Rebecca Davies, who has run the business for five years, is due to shut up shop on Friday this week (January 17). But when she arrived at the Lowestoft store on Monday morning she discovered the break-in.
“I would like to say that in the five years of us owning our shop we have been welcomed and supported by a wonderful community and we have loved every minute of being here,” she told the Journal, Lowestoft.
“We will not let this ruin our last few days running our business and thank all of our customers for there support over the years and support they have shown us today with this sad news.”
Rebecca added that she forgave those who stole from her: “We will be holding you in our prayers,” she said.
“We will be open for the rest of the week and look forward to finishing on a high.”
One customer posted on Facebook: said: “They knew you were closing, wicked people!” and another added: “I wish you the absolute best for the future. A tough day indeed.”
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Suffolk Police on 101, quoting crime reference 2621/20.
