Thieves grabbed a cash box from a security guard outside a Pets at Home store and made off in a getaway car just before the Bank Holiday.
Police are appealing for information following the assault, which happened on Thursday, August 26.
At around 11am officers received a report of the incident outside Pets at Home in Cables Retail Park, Prescot, Merseyside.
Two men are reported to have approached the security guard and taken the cash box before making off in a black Audi S3. The security guard was uninjured but left shaken by the incident.
Detective Sergeant Mark Lawrenson said: “Targeting someone going about their business in the community is disgraceful and we are determined to find the people responsible and bring them to justice.”
