An independent boutique pet store in Cumbria is celebrating its first year of trading this month.
Rose and Ralph in Gramere is named after two of the owners’ dogs, mother and daughter partnership Christine Prickett and Dani Hine. The family have owned Dachshunds tracing back to Dani’s great grandmother, and it had always been Dani’s dream to own a pet store. Now, supported by her mother Christine, the store has thrived through its first year.
Dani said: “People always used to say, and still do, ‘that dog is your life’ – and I am so excited and proud that I have been able to turn the dream into a reality with our dogs at the centre. And all with the support of my best friend, my mum.
“We have all our favourite brands, the ones that we trust and buy for our own four-legged family members, available in one place.”
She added: “Dogs aren’t pets, they truly are an extension of our family. And it’s been so fantastic to grow that family with our regulars and new visitors over the last year. People ask if they can bring their dog into the shop – for me, that’s the best part! It’s thanks to them that we’ve had such a successful first year and it’s just what Grasmere needed!”
