A dog training academy venture that was delayed through the coronavirus crisis and then by a local lockdown is finally set to open its doors.
Awesome Paws Academy is a standalone unit based in Portlethen, Aberdeen, the only one of its kind in the area. The unit will allow training to take place whatever the weather, as there are both indoor and outdoor facilities.
It is opening on September 5 with a full day of events for dogs and their owners.
Denise Shirreffs, founder of Awesome Paws and owner of the new facility,
said: “I had to delay the launch of the academy due to the pandemic and the recent local lockdown but I’m delighted that I am now in a position where the opening can go ahead.
“Although I have had to make changes to the running of the event, I am really looking forward to introducing Awesome Paws Academy to dog lovers across Aberdeenshire.”
Previously, Denise visited clients’ homes and worked with them to address their dogs’ training and behavioural issues. The new academy will allow her to offer a one-stop-shop in dog training and behaviour.
She said: “I have always wanted to open my own unit and I am absolutely delighted to see my dreams come to life.
“I hope that the academy will become the leading centre for fear-free training for dogs. I really want to be able to educate people on how to train their dog in a kinder and more caring way and I love helping owners to build positive relationships with their dogs.”
Due to covid restrictions, anyone wishing to attend the opening event will need to register first with Awesome Paws.
