Jollyes is enlisting the help of a unicorn for the opening of its new store in Glenrothes, Fife, next month.
The retailer’s latest store, its fourth in Scotland, will open at Saltire Retail Park on Saturday October 8, at 10 am. A full line-up of events is planned for the day, including what is believed to be the first pet store opening by a unicorn, the national animal of Scotland.
The opening ceremony will be assisted by Princess, one of the famous “unicorns” – actually a miniature Shetland pony – from Scottish events firm The Unicorn Experience. Children will be able to meet and feed Princess, along with other activities such as face painting and the chance to win prizes by playing the “wheel of fur-tune”. Kingdom FM will be giving local residents the chance to win one of five £50 vouchers to spend in the store, and there will be goodie bags for the first 100 visitors.
The 5,000 square feet store will employ 10 colleagues, led by store manager Leonard Goddard.
Kerry Midgley, Jollyes regional manager, said: “We’re looking forward to opening a store that everyone in Glenrothes can be proud of and what better way to do it than have Scotland’s national animal, a unicorn, to be there to celebrate the occasion.
“The store is in a great location and we’ve designed it to make it as easy as possible for pet lovers in Glenrothes and the surrounding area to find what they are looking for from small animals, food and accessories to toys and treats.”
The date for the Glenrothes store opening is two weeks later than originally planned to allow fitting out work to be completed. In addition to the new Glenrothes store, Jollyes is also preparing to open a store at Hermiston Gait Retail Park, Edinburgh – its fifth in Scotland as part of a near £1 million investment.
